WAYNE STARKEY
Wayne began Pilates at young age during college when he discovered that he had strong mobility issues that were stopping his ability to walk smoothly without pain and that were also affecting his passion and interest in the movement disciplines that he loves such as dance and martial arts.

After searching for solutions, he discovered the Pilates Method and managed to completely reverse his own postural issues that were causing him unnecessary pain and discomfort and that were affecting his ability to enjoy life and experience it to the fullest. He has now been able to fulfill his interest and passion in movement going on to achieve significant success in his chosen disciplines.
SPORTS MASSAGE - MANUAL THERAPIST

As a Sports Massage and Manual Therapist Wayne expertly applies a variety of rehabilitative intervention techniques with his clients in his clinical practice to treat an assortment of musculoskeletal ailments and conditions to help alleviate pain and discomfort and to improve client mobility, functionality and sports performance. The combination of restorative treatment protocols along with personalized tailored specific conditioning exercises create significant and lasting results in the clients that come to him for help and assistance.​​


​​POSTURAL ALIGNMENT SPECIALIST (P.A.S)

Wayne is a qualified Postural Alignment Specialist (P.A.S) trained in the Muscle-Balance-Function Development System (MBF) and The Egoscue Method.


FUNCTIONAL FITNESS TRAINER

He is also certified Functional Fitness Trainer qualified in: TRX Suspension training, Stick Mobility, ViPR (Vitality-Performance-Reconditioning) and MovNat (The Natural Movement Method).

PASSIONS & INTERESTS

Through the use of the Pilates Method in his own life Wayne is grateful to have be able to regain his own mobility so that can he practice his passion which are movement based disciplines such as:

Martial Arts – Dance – Circus Arts
​
Wayne is a qualified Martial Arts Coach and Competition Judge for the B.C.C.M.A (British Council for Chinese Martial Arts) and has represented Great Britain several times winning multiple Gold Medals at both a National and International level. He continues to train regularly by himself and with his teammates.
He has studied at the Desmond Jones School of Mime and Physical Theatre and been a dedicated Dancer for over 20 years and has taught at the world famous Pineapple Dance Studios in Covent Garden. Through his own Pilates practice he been able to perform as professional Circus Artist and Fire Performer training directly with industry professionals from Cirque Du Soleil.

​Since then, he has gone on to study and teach Pilates full-time professionally for almost 20 years and has ran a successful Pilates studio for 6 years. He has been fortunate enough to train extensively in the different Pilates methodologies and systems such as Classical, Contemporary, Fletcher and Stott Pilates from various industry professionals.
​
As a very experienced and dedicated teacher in both Pilates Apparatus (machine) and Mat-work. Wayne loves to share his vast knowledge and experience with people from all walks of life looking to improve the quality of their lives and feel better about themselves.
Over many years of teaching, he has mainly specialized in helping members of the public with office-based jobs that want to improve their health and well-being through intelligent movement exercise and appropriate treatment protocols.

Wayne has taught office-based professionals in their own work settings and also online via Zoom conferencing and additionally makes regular home visits to people across Hertfordshire with physical disability specializing in assisting clients with multiple sclerosis (MS).
In his Pilates practice he frequently works side-by-side with other health care professionals such as Doctors, Physicians, Osteopaths and Physiotherapists to create a more complete and comprehensive approach to client rehabilitative treatments.
